Privacy Policy
Last updated August 11, 2026
1. Who this covers
This policy covers the Zodra mobile app (iOS and Android) and this website. It applies whether or not you create an account — Zodra works for guests, and this policy covers that data too.
2. What we collect
Depending on how you use Zodra, we collect:
- Account info: your email address and password (stored as a salted hash, never in plain text), or, if you sign in with Google, the email address Google shares with us.
- Birth data: the name, date, time and place of birth you enter to cast a chart. This is the core input to the product — Zodra can't generate a reading without it. It's encrypted at rest.
- Journal content: anything you write in your journal, and any photos you attach to an entry (Premium feature).
- Usage events: which quests you view or complete, when you upgrade, and similar in-app actions — tied to your account or, if you're a guest, to a random identifier generated on your device. We never attach your name, email, birth date or location to these events.
- Device and network info: your IP address, used only to prevent abuse (for example, stopping a script from generating unlimited charts) and never stored long-term.
3. Why we collect it
- Birth data is sent to a mapping provider to resolve your birthplace to coordinates, and to our chart engine to compute your placements.
- Your first name (if you gave one) and your computed chart placements — not your raw birth date, time or location — are sent to our AI content providers to generate your personalized quests and readings.
- Your email is used to let you sign in, recover a lost password, and receive service-related messages. We don't send marketing email from inside the app.
- Usage events help us understand which parts of Zodra are working and which aren't. They're first-party — they land in our own database, not a third-party analytics SDK.
4. Who we share it with
We don't sell your data. We share the minimum necessary with the vendors that make the app work:
- Mapbox / OpenStreetMap — resolves the city you type to a location, for birth data and chart casting.
- Anthropic and Groq — generate your quests and chart reading from your name and chart placements, as described above.
- Google — verifies your identity if you choose "Continue with Google."
- Our payment processor — handles checkout for Premium. We never see or store your card details.
- App Store / Play Store — if you subscribe through an app store instead of the web, the store itself handles billing under its own privacy terms.
5. How long we keep it
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. Deleting your account from Settings permanently erases your charts, journal entries and photos — this cannot be undone once confirmed. A chart cast as a guest and never claimed by an account is not tied to any identity we can look up on request.
6. Your rights
You can, at any time:
- Delete your account and all associated data from Settings → Danger zone.
- Change your password from Settings → Security.
- Ask us what data we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by contacting us below.
If you're in the EU/UK or California, these are your GDPR/CCPA rights to access, correct, delete and port your data — we honor the same rights for everyone, everywhere, not only where the law requires it.
7. Children
Zodra is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under 16. We don't knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
8. Changes to this policy
If we make a material change to this policy, we'll update the date at the top and, for significant changes, notify you in the app.
